Becky's Day Off...

So Becky finally had a real day off, a whole day off for the first time in probably 2 and a half weeks. So we used it to our advantage to get away from Colby for the day. But where do you go when you live in Colby??? The answer is anywhere. Actually we decided to head to Colorado Springs. It’s a beautiful place to spend a week or even just a day.
So we got a room on Priceline, you get what you pay for sometimes, enough said about that. We got up early Tuesday morning and head for Colorado, by the way, Colorado is only 53 miles from Colby.
We enjoyed the beautiful drive, it was a nice day but evidently cloudy because I couldn’t see Pikes Peak from Limon, 66 miles away.
When we got into the Springs we decided to go to Focus on the Family, as our first stop. Well truthfully we stopped at Chick-fil-a first. We shopped at the bookstore for a little while, of course having to by a Bible, amazingly not for me this time. After shopping we decided that we would have some ice cream at Whit’s End….Side Note..If you have never listened to Adventures in Odyssey, you’re missing a lot. I grew up on AIO, and the kid in me definitely comes out when we are at Focus on the Family. There was definitely a crowd there so I didn’t play but I am looking for an excuse to go there and play…
When we left we went to Wal-Mart for a few minutes then went and checked into our hotel. We took our stuff to our room and decided that we would go to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We stopped and asked a guy for directions and made it just in time for last admission to the zoo.
Most zoos are a lot of walking, I get that, but must zoos are not built on a mountain. It was an amazing zoo, we paid $12 a piece but it was worth it!! The first exhibit you see is the giraffes, meaning not just one or two, but a bunch. You can feed the giraffes crackers. It was pretty cool, I never realized how big a giraffes tongue can be. I also petted one, they are not fans of that though.
Since the zoo is on a mountain, you have to walk up and up and up. It was a lot of walking but a lot of fun. The other really awesome thing about the zoo was they had a Wallaby Walkabout. They had 2 Kangaroos and 5 or 6 Wallabies, well actually there were more than that but you couldn’t see them because they were in the pouches.
We left the zoo, and decided to go out for dinner. We went to Olive Garden, a definite step up from Montana Mikes…Thanks Sharon!!!
Becky and I went shopping at a mall and Target, we had a great time and enjoyed our day away. I will try to put some pictures on the blog tonight or tomorrow.
Love Ya
